How a Mitsubishi Ecodan works

Air source heat pumps work similarly to how a refrigerator does by using a compressor, expansion valve and two heat exchangers (evaporator and a condenser). Here’s how it works:
1. The refrigerant in the evaporator is much cooler than the heat source found in the air, causing the heat source to replace the evaporated refrigerant.
2. This is then moved to the compressor where it is brought to a higher temperature and pressure.
3. Hot vapour then transfers to the condenser and gives off a heat energy as it condenses.
4. To complete the cycle, the refrigerant moves to the expansion valve, dropping in temperature and pressure before returning back to the evaporator.

Government Green Homes Grant

Homeowners and landlords in England can apply for a voucher towards the cost of installing energy efficient and low-carbon heating improvements to homes, which could help save up to £600 a year on energy bills.

The government will provide a voucher that covers up to two thirds of the cost of qualifying improvements to your home. The maximum value of the voucher is £5,000. You may be able to receive a higher level of subsidy if you are a homeowner and either you or a member of your household receives one of the qualifying benefits, covering 100% of the cost of the improvements. The maximum value of these voucher is £10,000.
